Commented on Yorktown Voters Approve $92M Budget
05/16/12
"by a margin of 1,120 to 502, according to unofficial results." Pitiful! I don't want to hear anybody complaining about their school taxes going up. It happens EVERY year. You mean to tell me that there are only 1600 registered voters in the Yorktown school district? View Comment
Commented on Law Enforcement Groups Say Police Need Oversight
05/15/12
majura, It seems you know nothing about the Pace shooting. The grand jury does not agree with you. You also write this "When most parents are teaching their kids how to throw a baseball, we are teaching our children how to act when stopped by a police officer." You may want to watch this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2wOxnAiIVs. This applies to ALL races, not just Black people.
As in the Pace incident, it is important to teach your children NOT to drink, and certainly NOT drive a vehicle if they have. As with any human being, if you give someone grief then don't expect a break. Don't turn a simple incident into a tragedy. View Comment
Commented on Law Enforcement Groups Say Police Need Oversight
05/15/12
It seems that some BLACK police groups are not acting very BLUE. It is always about race with them! I just wonder how they enforce the law? Do they apply THEIR prejudices to the enforcement of the law? When they start acting as police officers and drop their color prejudices, things would get a lot better.
I have never seen this country so mired in color problems. It is NOT always a racial problem It is a racial problem if some want it that way. Look at Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. It seems that everything is a racial, problem with them. I can also apply this to Blacks in Law Enforcement of America, and 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement, to name two. People that stir up hatred are not doing the situation any good. View Comment
Commented on Yorktown Voters to Decide Schools Budget Tuesday
05/15/12
Has anyone been to vote today? It seems that someone was NOT thinking when it came to where the people entered the school to vote. Why was the parking lot in the back closed to the voters? In the past you went around to the BACK of the school and entered to vote by entering the gymnasium where the voting machines are. No contact with the students at all.
Today, you entered through the front entrance. Children everywhere and no one noticing you when you entered. I could have walked un-noticed anywhere I wanted. There was only one police officer there and he could not be everywhere at once. Who ever was responsible for this security breech, should be admonished! Students should never be put in this situation. View Comment
Commented on Yorktown Chief: Retail Project Would Strain Police

What a surprise coming from a councilman that "WASTES MONEY" on open spaces that DON'T generate revenue for the town. Councilman, who do you think is paying for your salary and medical? It is the home owners of Yorktown because there are fewer and fewer business's. If the councilman is so concerned about the cost of each policeman, then maybe he should be concerned about his salary and benefits for the part time job he has. View Comment
Commented on Protesters Rally at Bank of America in Yorktown
05/10/12
These people know nothing about the banking system. It was the lose lending policies that got us in trouble. Now these people want to go back to those days? What ever happened to having to put down 20% ? What ever happened to buying something YOU could afford? As far as Mr. George Ondek, he should stick to what he does best, direct cable tv shows. he has NO grasp of economics.
It is time for people to actually buy what they can afford. My mother always told me when I wanted something, do you have the money to pay for it? Don't have the money to pay for it then you don't need it.
Lastly who would take advise from a council organizer for MoveOn.org Northern Westchester/Putnam? Notice the title, sounds like our president. By the way, how is that choice working out? View Comment
Commented on Democrat Falk to Run Against Assemblyman Katz
05/10/12
Mr Andrew Falk has started his campaign on a good note. I do hope that both candidates talk about the issues and do not get into mud slinging. As I see the education problem, it is not the teachers, but the system including the unions. The system has TOOOOOO many administrators. It is top heavy and that includes salaries of these top administrators. Here in Yorktown the top administrator in the school system makes more than the governor. Even the two below him make more than the governor. How about taking up the issue of consolidation of the Yorktown and Lakeland. school districts? Lets put that up for debate by the candidates. We need to bring down the cost of doing business. The old excuse "it's for the children" has lost its luster and appeal. View Comment
Commented on Yorktown IBM Neighbor Fights Helistop After Crash

Much to do about nothing! There is no more noise than when the Westchester PD fly's around Yorktown or News 12 does. Have you ever seen the low flying helicopters? Have you ever heard of anyone complaining about them? I haven't. This is NOT Westchester Airport.
By the way, why has Westchester Airport had to limit the landing distance on one of its runways? Because some people in Connecticut won't let trees be cut on the approach path. It is ok for those living in Connecticut to use the airport but they have NO concern of the safety of planes landing at the airport. Those trees need to be trimmed, it is a matter of safety. Commented on Efforts Increase for Yorktown Community Dog Park
05/02/12
Ok, who is going to pay for the upkeep of this park? Mr Bianco states that" "I could care less about the buildings. We should just let them have it. I have no problem with what they want to do." . really, what about the cost to the taxpayer Councilman Bianco? It is obvious that with your re-election you have nothing to worry about. It is the taxpayers that will have to worry. Show me the money for this park. Who is paying for it? Simple question only requiring a simple answer. Want to bet there will be no answers to this question? View Comment
Commented on Rep. Nita Lowey Opposes Student Loans Hike
05/02/12
Now isn't that funny, the Democrat's have been tying bills together for years. Now the whining Nita Lowery is complaining about the procedure. Seems she doesn't like it when the tables are turned. Maybe if she got in the presidents face about the economy, students would have jobs and be able to pay back their student loans!. View Comment

Well there you go again, "Police said they were all wearing dark hoodies.". This family is lucky to be alive because of the total disregard of life by the criminals today. If it was my family I would certainly be looking into some form of self defense. They may NOT be so lucky the next time. View Comment

Commented on Suburban Dad: Find Time to Coach (Obama Does)

Marek, I do hope that he is better at coaching basket ball than he is at running the country. Maybe if he spent more time doing WHAT he is supposed to do and stop running off an golf outings and vacation, the country might be better off. View Comment
Commented on Yorktown Man Looks to Put Brakes on Speeders
04/07/12
"Gorman took his concerns to the Yorktown Town Board this week and asked for a speed hump, stop sign or a children at play sign in an effort to try to slow motorists." There is a sign on Broad street that states school zone 15 MPH. Guess what, even the school buses don't obey it. Worst offenders, people that have children in the Brookside school. So to think that a sign that says children at play, are you kidding?
Put the public safety officer with his radar unit there on a regular basis, and it will stop. If you want to speed go on 684 or the TSP. At least there is no cross traffic and most of the drivers are already doing 75+ on 684 and 65+ on the TSP. The town speed in Yorktown is 30MPH on most roads. Most people do maybe 40. Leave a little earlier. Stay off the cell phone and the Blackberry, pay attention to the speedometer. View Comment
Commented on Report: Kennedy Child Abuse Claims Dismissed
04/05/12
MMMMM. [Timothy Haydock, a doctor at the hospital and a reported friend of the Kennedy family, was present during the altercation and said the broadcaster did nothing wrong.] I really believe this doctor, don't you? More [“I witnessed the incident and I can state unequivocally that the nurses were the only aggressors,” Haydock was quoted as saying.] Again, really? From what I have read so far the nurses were doing what they were supposed to do. It seems that the Kennedy's are never far from controversy. The only people that will suffer any adverse effects from this incident will be those caring hard working nurses. As usual the people doing what they are supposed to do get it in the neck!! Commented on Drivers See Delays as Taconic Overhaul Begins

Clandy, do you think that you are the only one going to and from work? You sound like the traffic Czar. The people in trucks are workers also. They are either delivering merchandise to stores or are using the trucks for their business, what ever that maybe.
As far as two years, the contract is very specific , the end of November or there are penalties to be paid. Rest assured they will finish in time. If they don't, that will cut into their bottom line. No one can afford that with the economy the way it is. View Comment

Commented on Pace Dedicates Clock Tower in DJ Henry's Memory
03/30/12
So you say , Mr. Greenburghmomof2 you knew nothing about the problem? I find that hard to believe because everyone living in the town knew. It was a nightly occurrence in town. If it happened in town, I'm sure it happened on campus. Just who are you trying to fool ? The clock was a nice gesture but really doesn't do anything about the underlying problem. Nice fluff piece but I ask the "reporter" earlier to look at the drinking problem that some of these students have. Till this day no one will broach the subject about drinking by students on and off campus. To them there isn't a problem.
To remind all, the legal drinking age in New York State is 21. That includes very large number of those attending Pace as students. View Comment
